About the Bistro

Virgo’s Bistro was owned by Trudy and Adrian Ellison since December 2006, and was taken over by Natalie in September 2022. The vision remains the same since day one, to provide delicious home cooked food, prepared from fresh, local ingredients in a welcoming and friendly atmosphere.

Alongside great food, our dedicated staff work extremely hard to deliver consistently great customer service too, through their knowledge, enthusiasm and passion. We try to make every single customer feel welcome and valued with our helpful and friendly service. The aim is to provide a relaxed environment, that is never stuffy or overpriced, where people can meet with friends or family for an enjoyable dining experience. The sheer number of loyal, regular customers hopefully pays testimony to the delicious food and service that we provide.

All of our food is made fresh to order, we prepare and cook food as fast as we can. If something is not on the menu, or you would like to make a tweak to a meal, then please ask. We are always willing to create a bespoke plate to suit your needs. If we have it in, we’ll make it for you!!

On an evening, all of our meals are served with potatoes and either vegetables or salad, there are no unexpected costs to buy items separately. A wholesome meal is always guaranteed at Virgo’s. So whether it’s a mouth watering fillet steak, or delicious monkfish or seabass, they will all be served with sides and a sauce within the price. Our white wines and prosecco are chilled to perfection, and ice cold flutes from the freezer just add that little extra to the experience!

In the warmer summer months, when the demand for comforting Sunday lunches starts to reduce, we then offer our very popular Greek Meze nights on a Thursday night. Our Greek chef, Spiros, is in his absolute element, serving up a delicious array of Greek dishes alongside chilled wines and of course Mythos lager, “The Nectar of the Gods” according to Spiros – and he should know!

To avoid disappointment, booking is highly advised for Friday and Saturday evenings and for Sunday lunch and takeaways. During the day on a Thursday through Saturday there is no need to book, just turn up and enjoy!

We are dog lovers at Virgo’s, however apart from guide dogs we unfortunately do not allow dogs into the Bistro as we need to take a balanced view and not all customers are comfortable in their presence. In the summer months, where we have outside seating, we welcome all dogs with well behaved owners to come and enjoy a drink and a bite to eat alongside their four-legged friends.
